Hip Hop Culture

Hip Hop is a culture  that is created in early 70’s by  African Americans, Latino Americans and Caribbean Americans in the Bronx, New York City.

In earlier days hip hop is one of the way of protesting . Main stream media recognized hip hop in early 80’s. Various films Style Wars, Beat Street,Breakin and Wild Style, were play a key role in introducing Breaking and street dance culture to a wider audience. The sugarhill  gangs was the first group of hip hop who got popularity in main stream media 1979 by song “rappers delight”.

But the main personality behind the invention of hip hop culture is ”Kool Dj herc” who is a Jamaican boy moved to Brooklyn at the age 12. In 90’s “Ronald savage” popularly known as son of hip hop movement introduced “six elements of hip hop movement”  are: Civil Rights Awareness, Activism Awareness, Justice ,Consciousness Awareness, Political Awareness, and Community Awareness in music.

Hip Hop is generally a main stream music for all house parties,clubs.In 20’s when different music platforms like Youtube, Soundcloud, Spotify etc. Open hip hop is  largely popularised all across the globe.people are downloading ,listening,dancing on hip hop music and now it touches hearts of millions and millions fans across all over the world.hip hop music and hip hop dance are established as two big giant industries.as hip hop move to different countries hip hop evolve it self.every country express hip hop groove on it own ways like American hip hoppers have different groove from south Korean hip hoppers.  

 

Types of Hip Hop Culture

Hip hop dancing evolved as a part of hip hop culture. It is a street dance style.first form of hip hop was turntablism or deejaying. Now hip hop has 5 elements  turntablism or DJing (aural), MCing (oral), b-boying (physical), graffiti art (visual) and knowledge.

As hip hop dance evolve through time hip hop dance sub divided in three schools i.e, old school,middle school,new school.every school have its own sets of moves.

Early hip hop dance is a breaking culture where b-boys and b-girls battle against each other and they were tested according  to athleticism, attitude, originality, and dominance.now breakin is a part of hip hop dance and various hip hoppers have doing there own groovement.the basic groove of hip hop is a rhythmic bounce either it will upward or downward bounce.many hip hoppers add flow to their groove.
